Sacred peaks, still lakes, and air that feels new.
From the monasteries of Gangtok to the high lakes of the north, Sikkim is the gentlest and most refreshing way into the eastern Himalaya.

"A high-altitude lake like Gurudongmar, still and turquoise, snow peaks reflected."
Sikkim is the Himalaya at its most serene. Sacred lakes, clifftop monasteries, tea gardens, and the third-highest mountain on earth watching over it all. Clean, calm, and quietly spectacular. Sikkim has a calm that is hard to find elsewhere. It was India's first fully organic state, it takes its environment seriously, and it shows, in the clean towns, the clear air, and the deep Buddhist culture that runs through daily life. Over it all stands Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, revered here as a guardian deity rather than just a peak to climb. It is also wonderfully varied for its size. In a few days you can move from the lively capital Gangtok to ancient monasteries, from tea gardens to the staggering high-altitude lakes of the north. It is accessible enough for first-timers and beautiful enough to bring serious mountain travellers back again and again.
What you will see
Take a slow, thorough walkthrough of these local treasures, curated and managed wholly by homegrown guides.

"MG Marg in Gangtok in the evening, lit and lively, mountains behind."
Gangtok and the east
The capital is clean, walkable, and full of life along MG Marg. Nearby sit the Rumtek Monastery, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, and Tsomgo Lake, with the dramatic Nathula Pass on the old Silk Route beyond.
Pelling and the west
Quieter and steeped in history. The Pemayangtse Monastery, the ruins of the old capital at Rabdentse, and clear views of Kanchenjunga when the weather plays along. West Sikkim is where the state feels most timeless.

"The Yumthang Valley in spring, rhododendrons in bloom beneath snow peaks."
North Sikkim
The high country, and for many the highlight. Lachung and Lachen are the gateways to the Yumthang Valley, the surreal Zero Point, and the sacred Gurudongmar Lake at over 17,000 feet. Permits and altitude need managing, which is exactly what we are here for.
South Sikkim and the tea country
Ravangla with its great Buddha Park, the Temi tea garden, the only one in the state, and the pilgrimage town of Namchi with its towering statues. A softer, slower side of Sikkim.
